How to Move From Squarespace to WordPress Without Losing Pages

The WordPress importer reads Squarespace's export file. That gets your blog posts in with dates and categories intact. People who stop there end up with a blog and a pile of missing pages. This is the fuller sequence.

Before anything: copy the live site

Take a complete copy of the public site as it is today: every page as HTML, a full-page screenshot of every page, and the images, fonts, and colors. This is your reference while rebuilding and your safety net if the migration drags on and the Squarespace plan lapses. 1. Export posts from Squarespace

3. Rebuild the pages

3. Pull the images from the assets folder.
4. Recreate the page in your theme or page builder.

4. Redirects

List every public address from the backup's pages.txt and map each to its new WordPress address. Add the redirects before the domain moves. This is the step that keeps your search rankings.

5. Move the domain last

Keep Squarespace live until the WordPress site is complete and the redirects work. Then point DNS, watch for a day, and cancel Squarespace.
