Who can see my backups?
Only someone with your private link. Backups live in private storage, downloads go through links that expire within an hour, and we never publish or index anything.
Your backups are stored in a private bucket that has no public listing and no public addresses. When you click Download, the site creates a signed link that works for one hour and only for that file, then hands it to your browser.
The dashboard and each backup page are reached through long random tokens sent to your email. There are no usernames or passwords to guess, and the tokens are never derived from your email or your site's name.
We do not read your backups, publish them, or use them for anything except serving them to you. Since the pages are copies of what your site already shows the public, the sensitive part is not the content but the fact that the copy exists, so treat the links like keys.
Squarespace doesn't give you a copy of your site. We do: every public page, full-page screenshots, images and fonts, in your inbox on the 1st.
