How does the affiliate program work?

Affiliates earn $20 for every site that starts the yearly plan through their link and is still active 30 days later, and the reader gets 10% off the first year. Paid quarterly, no cap.

An affiliate code is a short word, usually your name, that records a referral. Someone who signs up for the yearly plan through your link or with your code gets 10% off their first year ($71.10, then the regular $79 a year), and you earn $20 once their site has been active for 30 days. There is no cap on how many referrals count and the code never expires.

Signing up. Go to the affiliate page and add your name, your email, and your own site. Your code, your share link, and the private link to your dashboard arrive by email, and your own site is backed up free for as long as you like, one site per affiliate. The share link lands on the pricing card with your code already filled in, so the reader types nothing.

What counts. A referral is a site that starts the yearly plan through your link or your code. The monthly plan does not count, sites you pay for yourself do not count, and a buyer who uses a designer's half-off code instead is that designer's referral, not yours. A site cancelled or refunded inside its first 30 days is not paid. After 30 days the referral is confirmed, and a later cancellation does not take it back.

Getting paid. Your dashboard lists every referral with its state, what you have earned, what has been paid, and what is due. At the start of each quarter, in January, April, July, and October, we email you to arrange payment of what is due, through a service such as PayPal. Payments show up in the same list once they are made.

Two programs, one code. A code is either an affiliate code or a designer code, never both, so the half-off and the affiliate fee can never apply to the same sale. If you would rather give clients half off their first year, switch your code to the designer program from your dashboard. The switch applies to new signups only: referrals already made still pay out, and clients who already used a discount keep it.

Saying so. If you write about us, say that the link is a referral link. It is honest, and in many places the law requires it. Please describe the service as this site does, and no further.
