What is a designer code?

A designer code takes half off a client's first year of the yearly plan. Designers get one, plus their own site backed up free, from the designer page.

A designer code is a short word, usually the designer's name, that takes half off a client's first year of the yearly plan: $39.50 instead of $79, then the regular $79 a year after that. It never expires, and there is no limit on how many clients can use it.

If you were given a code. On the pricing section, pick the yearly plan, click "Have a designer code?", and type it in. The price changes to $39.50 before you pay. If your designer sent you a link, the code is already filled in. Stripe's own checkout page has a field for it too. Codes apply to the yearly plan only, because half off one month is not much of a gift.

If you are a designer. Sign up on the designer page with your name, your email, and your own site. Your code and the private link to your dashboard arrive by email. Open that link once and the first backup of your own site starts. It stays backed up free for as long as you like, one site per designer, no card needed. Backups start automatically, nothing waits on us. We look over new signups afterwards, and in the rare case of misuse we ask that account to move to the standard plan, with two weeks of backups still running in the meantime.

Paying for a client's site yourself. From your dashboard, add the site and put the client's address in "send the monthly backup to". You pay with your card, your code is applied automatically, and the monthly email goes to the client without anything in it that opens your account. Leave the address empty and the backups come to you instead, which suits designers who keep the copies for their clients.

When the first year is up. The plan renews at the regular $79 a year. We say so on checkout, and we email a reminder two weeks before each renewal, so nobody is surprised.
