What changed since last month?

Every backup is compared with the one before it. The email and the dashboard say which pages were added, removed, or edited, and the archive page lists them.

Every backup carries a list of its pages, each with a fingerprint of the words on it. When the next backup is made, the two lists are compared, and the difference travels with the new backup.

What the three words mean. *Added* is a page in this backup that was not in the previous one. *Removed* is a page that was there last time and is gone now. *Edited* means the words on the page changed. A photo that moved, a new font, or a layout tweak that leaves the text alone does not count, so the list stays about content.

Where you see it. The monthly email has a "since last month" line and lists up to eight pages. The dashboard shows the same count next to each backup. The archive page, where you download the zip, lists up to 25 pages in each group.

Why it is worth a glance. An edit you did not make means someone else has access to the site. A page that disappeared may be a mistake you can still undo from last month's copy. And a month with no changes is its own kind of reassurance.

First backups. The first backup of a site says "first backup", because there is nothing to compare it with yet. Backups made before this was introduced say "changes tracked from now on".
