What is in a backup?

A zip with one HTML file per public page, a full-page screenshot of each page, a plain-text copy of every page, the images, styles, and fonts the pages use, a theme report, and a list of every page we found.

Every backup is a single zip file. Inside:

• html/ One file per public page, named after its address. html/about.html is your About page. The links inside point at the copied images, styles, and fonts, so the pages open offline.
• screenshots/ A full-page JPEG of each page, top to bottom, at 1280 pixels wide. This is how the page looked to a visitor on the day of the backup.
• text/ Every page as Markdown: headings, paragraphs, lists, links, and image descriptions, with the scripts and styling left out. For copying the words back, or for pasting into whatever comes next.
• assets/ The images, stylesheets, and fonts the pages use, copied from your site and from the Squarespace CDN and Google Fonts.
• theme-report.md Template hints, fonts, colors, and integrations we detected, plus the page count and whether any limit was reached.
• pages.txt Every address we found, with a mark next to the ones that could not be fetched.

The zip is a copy of what visitors see. It is not a Squarespace export file and cannot be imported back into Squarespace. See Can I import a backup into Squarespace?
