What Happens to Your Showit Site When You Cancel?

When a Showit subscription ends, the site stops being served. The blog, which runs on WordPress inside Showit's hosting, goes with it. Showit keeps the account around for a while so you can reactivate, but there is no public copy in the meantime and no export at any point.

Who holds the account

Showit sites are often built by a designer under a designer account, then transferred to the client, or not. If the site is still on the designer's account and their plan ends, the site ends too, and you may not be told. Check whose account the site lives in before anything else.

What to save before cancelling

1. A copy of every public page, with full-page screenshots, because the Showit design only survives as a picture. Dead Simple Backups makes one in minutes and keeps making one monthly if you stay.
2. Blog posts, exported from the WordPress dashboard behind the blog.
3. Original images, from the media library.
4. The domain, at a registrar you control, with the subscription that will host the next site ready to receive it.

If you are moving to another platform

Rebuild while Showit is still live, with the screenshots as the brief. Move the domain when the new site is complete. Cancel Showit last.

If it already ended

Reactivate if Showit still holds the site; that is the only way to get the pages back. Otherwise rebuild from what exists: the designer's files, the Wayback Machine, old screenshots. Then keep a monthly copy so the next change of plans is a rebuild from a reference, not from memory.
