Wix · Offsite copy · Every month

A copy of your Wix site lands in your inbox on the 1st.

Wix hosts your site and keeps the only copy. We save every public page as HTML with a full-page screenshot, plus the images and fonts it uses, and email you a private link. No Wix login needed.

What Wix keeps, and what it does not

Wix has no export for a website. At the time of writing you can download some records as files, such as contacts, orders, and blog posts, but the pages themselves, the design, and the images are not something Wix hands over. Wix Studio sites are the same.

Wix does have Site History, which keeps earlier versions of your site inside the editor for a while, so you can roll back a bad edit while you still have access. That is useful, and it is not a backup: it lives in the same account, it is gone if the account is, and you cannot download it or open it outside Wix.

  • If a Premium plan lapses, the site can drop to the free plan with Wix ads and lose its connected domain, or go offline, depending on the plan and timing.
  • If the account is lost, through a forgotten login, a departed designer, or a takeover, Site History goes with it.
  • If you leave Wix, there is nothing to take with you except what you copied first.

A monthly copy of every public page, stored outside Wix, covers all three. It needs no login because it only reads what visitors already see.

The month you'll be glad you had it

Three things that happen to ordinary websites.

01

You lose the Wix account

The designer who built it owns the account, the login sits with an email nobody reads, or the card on file fails and the site drops to a free plan with ads. Last month's copy is still in your inbox.

02

An edit goes badly wrong

Site History only helps while you can log in and only for a while. A page from last month's backup can be put back any time, with the screenshot beside you.

03

You want off Wix

Every page as HTML and a screenshot, ready to hand to whoever builds the next site on Webflow, WordPress, or Squarespace. No export to wait for, because Wix does not offer one.

It watches, not just copies.

Four things a zip in a drawer cannot do.

01

Tells you when the site stops loading

Once a day we load your homepage. If it fails twice, a minute apart, you get one email with your latest backup, and one more when it is back.

02

Shows what changed

Every backup is compared with the one before: pages added, removed, and edited, listed in the email. You see edits you did not make.

03

Backs up when you ask

About to redesign, or hand the site to someone? One click on your dashboard makes a fresh copy first. Once a day per site.

04

Keeps every page as plain text

Next to the HTML and screenshots, a Markdown file per page: headings, paragraphs, links, and image descriptions, ready to paste into whatever comes next.

Your files, not ours

Backups are plain HTML, JPEG, and font files in ordinary folders, with the pages wired to their own images and stylesheets. Double-click and they open in any browser, on any computer, with no software from us. Download the lot whenever you like.

What we can see

We never ask for your Wix password. We read the public pages a visitor would see, and nothing else: no orders, no customer data, no drafts. You can delete any backup permanently, whenever you want.

Leave whenever

Cancel from one button in your account. No email, no retention call. Full refund inside 30 days, and your backups stay downloadable for another 30 after you go.

Questions people ask before signing up

Short answers. If yours isn't here, email us and a person replies.

hello@deadsimplebackups.com
Does this need my Wix login?
No. We read your public pages the same way a visitor does. There is nothing to log in to and no password for us to store.
Does it work with Wix Studio and older Wix Editor sites?
Yes. Both publish ordinary public pages. The backup holds each page as HTML, a full-page screenshot, and the images, styles, and fonts the page uses, including files served from Wix's image servers.
Are my blog posts and store pages included?
Every public page we can reach through your sitemap and your site's own links, including blog posts and product pages, however many there are. Checkout, member areas, and pages behind a password are not visible to visitors, so they are not included.
Can I import a backup back into Wix?
No. Wix has no import for pages, from anyone. A backup is a complete copy to rebuild from, with the old page open beside the editor, and a record of what the site said on a date.
Is this the same as Wix Site History?
No. Site History keeps versions inside Wix for a limited time and only while you have the account. A backup is a dated copy stored outside Wix that you can download, keep, and open anywhere.
How long do you keep backups?
Twelve months, and the newest one is never dropped. If you cancel, everything stays downloadable for 30 days after your paid period ends.
